Caring For Floors
* Sweep, vacuum or dust mop at least weekly.  Dirt, grit and
sand can scratch, dent and dull hardwood floors.  When
sweeping use a fine bristle broom.  When using a vacuum
use a brush attachment.

* Damp mop weekly with white vinegar and warm water.
To clean hardwood or laminated floors mix ½ cup distilled
white vinegar in a gallon of water.  Dampen a towel or a
mop in the mixture and wring out all the excess moisture.
No need to rinse.  Dry the floor if necessary.
* Never use sheet vinyl or tile floor care products on wood floors.  Self-polishing acrylic waxes cause wood to become slippery and
appear dull quickly.  The only remedy in this situation is to sand and refinish the floor.  Don’t use any of the following products (or
similar in nature ) on your floors: ammonia, Fantastik, Formula 409, dishwashing detergent, powdered all-purpose cleaner, Endust,
Pledge, Mop ‘n Glo, Murhpy’s Oil Soap or other polishes.
* Never Wax a Urethane Floor!  If your hardwood floor has a polyurethane finish, never use a paste
wax on the floor's surface.  A paste wax may form a sticky film on your floor and allow tracked in dirt
to stick to your wood finish.  Polyurethane finishes will not adhere to any wax and adding a fresh coat
of polyurethane to your floor will be very difficult.

* When the floor loses its shine/luster, it's time to recoat.  Screening (light sanding is required),
applying a compatible finish of the desired luster shine level you prefer.  High gloss will show wear
area faster, as satin tends to give a waxed look

* Laminated Floor Caution:  The manufacturers of some laminated wood floors now recommend
cleaning them with ammonia.  We prefer only vinegar and water as ammonia is used to strip the wax
off floors.  It may do the same to the sealant on most laminated floors.
